Transportation
Plus assists the Department of Children and Families, formerly the
Division of Youth and Family Services in providing reliable and consistent
transportation for clients to appointments, residential transport,
as well as to supervised visits. These appointments directly impact
the individual or families' care and welfare. The program operates
during the week on a referral basis. The Transportation Plus fleet
consists of six automobiles, two of which are often dedicated strictly
to its sister program - Supervised Visitation.
Supervised
Visitation Program
The Supervised
Visitation Program assists children and families involved
in the foster care system by facilitating visits between family members.
The majority of the visits occur between parent and child, but often
involve other family members. In recent years, the program has expanded
to include grandparent and sibling visits as well. PEI Kids collaborates
with the Department of Children and Families, formerly the Division
of Youth and Family Services in order to provide families with opportunities
to be together. Ultimately, the program seeks to establish relationships
that will allow family reunification, permanent placement or adoption
to occur. In 2009, 1,667 visits took place.
