Lawrence Township Stationhouse Adjustment Program (SHAP)

Lawrence Township Stationhouse Adjustment Program (SHAP) is an alternative program for youth facing a juvenile police record, family court or potential incarceration. Created by Lawrence Township Police Department, PEI Kids and the Lawrence Neighborhood Service Center, the program is open to any child, regardless of home address, arrested in Lawrence Township.  The curriculum is designed for children between the ages of 10 and 17 who are being charged with minor offenses and for parents and caregivers.  The program’s intent is to redirect youth positively, refocus their energies, refine their decision-making skills, provide productive alternative activities, and provide support to parents and caregivers.  Successful completion of the program removes the child from further contact with juvenile justice system unless they re-offend.
